If you’re celebrating the completion of a schooling year, or maybe you’re even marking the end of year 12 and your educational journey, a school formal is a great opportunity to get together and celebrate with your friends and classmates. If your school formal or ball is just around the corner, it’s only natural to have some pre-formal jitters, but we’ve got you covered. Here are some pointers that will help you make the most of your formal:

Your date

Whoever you invite to the formal is up to you. This is a celebration that’s all about your enjoyment on the night. Just keep in mind, if you don’t want to make things awkward, then the person doing the inviting should pay for tickets, especially if your partner is not from your school. If you both attend the same school, then splitting the cost is fair.

The dress or suit

Seeing as it is formal, you’ll be expected to adhere to the dress code. It’s often a good idea to have a clear picture of the gown, dress or suit you want to wear. Getting it early also gives you time to make alterations as needed, after all, nobody wants to turn up with a dress or suit that doesn’t fit properly. And remember, just because it’s formal, doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with what you’re wearing; chat with your partner, and see if you want to have matching colours, or go for something quite creative.

Shoes, hair, makeup and everything else

Take the time to get shoes that go well with your dress or suit. It’s also a good idea to get a booking at your favourite salon to make sure your hair will look great. Remember to call ahead, and make sure that your stylist knows that you’ll be dancing the whole night so that they can recommend a look that will be comfortable and will last.

Transport

Getting to the venue can be half the fun, especially if you and some friends are keen on renting a limo. However, remember that this is your night, if you and your date fancy something a bit more private, it’s your call.

The big night

When you get to the venue, everything will be about you and your fellow attendees. Get ready for photos, great food, dancing, more dancing and an overall awesome time. Remember to stay responsible and keep it fun.
