If you’re in the midst of planning for your wedding, you undoubtedly have a couple of venue choices lined up. However, how do you know which venue is the right one for your big day, and what can you do to make the decision an easier one?

We have listed some of the more important questions that you should ask your venue coordinator and yourself, to help give you a better understanding of the venue and what you can expect.

Is the venue available f-r your date?

This might sound like a no-brainer, but you can save yourself a lot of hassle by asking this question straight out of the gate. Most venues will be able to confirm whether your date is available, or not, over the phone.

How many people can the venue accommodate, and what is their parking capacity?

Another obvious one you should ask before you even visit the venue. You don’t want people struggling to find parking on the big day, or find out about surprise charges for extra parking.

Is it easy to find?

No one wants relatives and friends to arrive late for your big day or even worse, be fielding calls from those people while you’re walking down the aisle. Make sure that the venue is easy to find, or has clear and easy to follow instructions to get there, especially if the venue is located regionally or somewhere where mobile reception might not be great.

Can the venue carry out civil weddings, and if yes, under what authority do you fall, and can they provide you with Registrar details?

People tend to put the legal requirements of a wedding on the back burner, but unfortunately, it is one of the most important aspects. Make sure that the venue is licensed and able to help you get the legalities done and dusted so that you can get back to the party without a care in the world.

Will our wedding be the only one taking place on the day?

If you’re looking for a venue that’s dedicated to providing spaces for multiple weddings, odds are that they might have more than one ceremony, especially over the weekend. If this is the case, speak to the coordinators about privacy, and take a look around the grounds yourself. If the different venues are too close to each other, it’s probably best to keep on searching.

Does the venue allow confetti to be used at the venue?

Some venues have a very strict pollution policy, which rules out certain types of confetti or even forbids its use completely. If this is the case, find out why and ask about environmentally-friendly options, like rice paper.
